Leeds Canoe Club Blog. We paddle... lots!
Airewaves used to be Leeds Canoe Club's magazine letting people know what the club was upto. Its quite hard work pulling together a publication letting people know what the club is doing and publishing dates in advance is always hard as things tend to change. Step forth the blog.. Push button publishing for the masses. So here is the idea a few people in the club take it in turns to write up trips and talk about things in the club.
At the xmas / new year party earlier this month the following people were the recipients of the annual LCC awards:
Adult most improved paddler - Cat Baxter
Junior most improved paddler - Rachael Sykes
Adult best swim - Eddie Gray & Mick Leversidge (capsizing, swimming & breaking the c2 at sleningford slalom)
Junior best swim - Sarah Demspey (slipping in from the bank at HPP and grabbing her boat for support which also came into the water with her, and then having to be rescued by the GB freestyle team)
Best Pin - James Gray (vertical pin on aberglasyn gorge, we tried for 1.5 hours to rescue it and had to leave it over night to continue the boat resue the next day)
Pool Officer - Steve Henderson
Club captain - Steve Henderson
Services to leeds canoe club - Jo Kilburn
Bernard Chapman award - Martin Thornton
Dick of the year - Greg Parsons (for dropping £40 down a drain at scotch corner cafe, and having to get fishermen to rescue the two £20 notes)
Duck award - for some reason not awarded this year (I can only assume because steve had already won too many prizes?)
